Selected success stories from our students are summarized below.
The efforts of one of Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows,
Tyrel McQueen, were rewarded with the April 2003 cover story in the prestigious Caltech Undergraduate Research Journal (CURJ).
Steve Pastel, now an undergraduate student in chemical engineering at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, has been active in Oak Crest’s laboratories for two years, dating back to a time when he was studying at PCC. Steve successfully measured the partitioning of heavy metals in wastewater and developed new atomic absorption procedures for measuring their concentration in complex matrices.
Julie Magallanes an undergraduate student at PCC conducted the early characterization of our modular aerosol generator. She has now been accepted at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and is a recipient of the UC/Southern California Edison Scholarship. Julie’s accomplishments received press coverage in the December 2002 edition of Student Success, a PCC publication.
