Tsai Sherry

Oak Crest is proud to announce that Assistant Faculty Dr. Sherry Tsai, the Institute’s Director of Educational Outreach, has been named the new Greater Los Angeles Site Director of the Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE, formerly known as the Amgen-Bruce Wallace Biotechnology Lab Program). As the site director, Sherry provides direction, coordination, and leadership for her region of the ABE program.

ABE is an international program that provides free training to teachers on an engaging, inquiry-based biotechnology lab curriculum, and then provides, at no cost, the equipment, supplies, and technical support needed for teachers to then successfully implement the curriculum in their classrooms. The Greater Los Angeles site is the largest in the program, serving more than 200 teachers and more than 20,000 students last year in a service area that includes schools in Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties.

“We are helping to inspire and educate students directly, while also enhancing science education through teacher professional development. The ABE program is undergoing many significant changes, with the re-branding of the program, the development and roll out of a new program curriculum, and the creation of a national program office. I am thrilled to be joining this wonderful program at such an exciting time,” said Sherry.
