Sofia’s research is focused on gaining an improved understanding of the mechanisms that determine the disposition of antiretroviral drugs administered orally or systemically for HIV prevention. Specifically, she is studying the expression of molecular carrier proteins in the female vaginal tract and host-microbiome interactions.
