“I am in the process of applying for a PhD and my current focus is on the University of Minneapolis. I just got back from CheMNext learned a lot more about their sustainable polymer research and green chemistry labs.
This summer I was doing Organic Synthesis in the Osberger Lab and my partner and I synthesized approximately 20 molecules in 12 weeks! WOW! I still can’t believe that. I’ve been on the deans and presidents list consistently since I started at Cal Poly Pomona in Fall 2019. This year I’m a part of SPIRES where my project and lab are being funded by the NSF. My future aspirations are to work in mediating environmental law/policies.
I love what I do in my lab, it’s challenging but this allows me to research areas I don’t know much about and learn! I loved what I did at Oak Crest my research with P. putida is very dear to my heart. So much so that in the Spring I will be taking my library of molecules and doing some Disk Diffusion with E.coli. I’m ready to use the skills I learned at Oak Crest!”
